What does File
Investigator do ?
File Investigator identifies files by
scanning them, much like a virus scanner
does, then informs you of the file type,
metadata extracted from the file and
background information on how to use the
file. More details are available on
the How It Works
page.

Why are new versions
released every 3 months?
We are constantly adding more file
formats and improving the accuracy and
metadata extraction for our existing file
formats. There are thousands of
different file formats, and our goal is to
support as many as possible.
We offer Subscriptions for our consumer
applications and Maintenance Agreements
for our Software Development Kits (SDKs)
to give you a more affordable way to keep
up with every version. Purchase a
Subscription with your consumer
application, and you will receive the next
3 quarterly versions. Each year that
you renew that subscription, you will
receive 4 more quarterly versions.
Purchase a Maintenance Agreement for your
current version of an SDK, and receive the
next 4 quarterly versions. Each
renewal of the Maintenance Agreement
includes 4 more quarterly versions.
